The Hotes Foundation not-for-profit organization great contribution to Homeless earthquake victims in Kathmandu Nepal shopping spree.
Last month, four days after the initial earthquake in #Nepal, there were close to 3,000 people in #Kathmandu living in tents and make-shift shelters, and as is too often the case, only a small percentage of these people were receiving any significant help. Taking the initiative, and as always going where the need is the most, the Hotes Foundation went straight to one of the larger camps of 500 and arranged for a large grocery store to open up just for us. Then we took one woman from each family and in groups of 25 allowed them to fill a grocery cart with food or sanitary items. Even our seasoned volunteers couldn’t believe how fast and simple it was! No lines of indignity, no chaos or clamoring—and no red-tape. Just grateful bows, Namastes, and smiles. Watch this short video and see what real disaster aid looks like.
