A majority of Constituent Assembly lawmaker shave turned down the proposal of restoring Nepal as a Hindu state.Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa had registered the amendment proposal demanding to mention Nepal as a Hindu state in Article 4 of the revised bill of the new constitution. However, the proposal on restoring Nepal as Hindu state was rejected as it did not get the required 10 percent of votes.
Chairman Thapa had asked for division of votes in the CA. In the division of votes only 21 lawmakers stood for the proposal of Thapa.At least 61 lawmakers are required to make up 10 percent of votes in the CA, Chairman Nembang announced.As per the CA regulations, if any amendment proposal gathers 10 percent of votes from the lawmakers, the proposal is put to vote. source : myrepublica
